Camps / Clinics
If you are looking for a summer basketball camp I would strongly consider The Mass Commanders/ICE Basketball Summer Camp. The 2 biggest reasons to consider this camp are the instruction and the camp size. The camp Directors will be Mass Commanders/ICE Basketball Program Director Rudy Crichlow, Jr., and Mass Commanders/ICE Basketball Program Director Markus Potyranski. Camp Instructors will be but are not limited to Tobias Potyranski, Peter Sylvester, and Rausan Battle. The size of each camp will be a max of 40 players. The size is drastically reduced to provide a ideal learning environment. Your children can’t possibly get better in a gym with 60+ kids. Camps will be based on skill work and team play. Lunch and snack will be provided daily. Campers will need a basketball, and plenty of water daily. Mass Commanders/ICE Basketball t-shirts will be given out at each camp to campers.

Skill-Up -Summer Weekend Workouts
After placing several teams in summer basketball leagues I have come to the conclusion that there isn’t much benefit. Getting kids to games during the week is a hassle due to work schedules, commutes, and vacations. Even when kids could show up its barely enough. We were in 2 championship games this past summer and lost them both due to lack of numbers. Lastly, the cost was more expensive to play than having the kids workout out as a team and develop skills and concepts.
This summer I will introduce team/grade based workouts. These workouts will be held on the weekends at Newton Public Schools on Saturday’s for 2hrs. The workouts will allow players to get better acquainted with one another, build strong relationships, and work on the game of basketball. In order to close the gap on the teams that have been around longer and are more athletic we need to make sure our players are skilled to offset what we can’t control.
Here is an example on how this would work…. 9th and 10th graders would workout on a Saturday and/or Sunday from 530-630PM and then would get games in from 630-730PM. 11th, and 12th graders would workout from 630-730PM and then get games in from 730-830PM for 8 wks starting July 11 – Aug 30, 2020. The program will only cost $400. Every player will receive at least 15 minutes of Vertimax training every workout. This program will give players a competitive advantage once Fall rolls around. Development is the key to consistent and efficient play. The schedule is below. Please use your child’s 2020-21 school grade level to determine the appropriate time.
