Philosophy

Hello Players and Parents,

Below you will find useful information about our philosophy….

The Mass Commanders/ICE Basketball program is about development and learning the game at a “high school prep” level. As an organization we strive to better our players’ chances to continue on with their athletic desires at higher levels of play. We are a MetroWest Mass based Club/AAU program. Most of our players are multi-sport student athletes, but we manage to make it all work. In the spring season, we will practice from mid March until mid June, playing in 6+ tournaments. The fall season teams will practice from September until mid November playing in 4+ tournaments. Individual teams can participate in more tournaments if the players and their families decide to do so.  Extra tournaments will require additional fees that are paid for by the teams parents.

Our program is directly related to Reclaiming The Game, Inc. and ICE Basketball. Reclaiming The Game, Inc. and ICE Basketball are basketball skills development training companies. Reclaiming The Game, Inc. is affiliated with John Lucas Enterprises. Reclaiming The Game, Inc. and ICE Basketball hold clinics, individual skill development, small group training, and team training. For additional info about Reclaiming The Game, Inc. and ICE Basketball contact Rudy Crichlow, Jr. and/or Markus Potyranski.

Game time philosophy: Each player will use practice time to earn minutes.  Distribution of playing time will be fair but not even and distributed according to live game decisions. The entire organization will share the same philosophies that will be discussed prior to the start of the spring season.

Practice philosophy: Each player will practice on average 1.5-3hrs per week in the Spring. In the Fall each player will practice on average 1.5-3hrs per week .  Each practice will be 60-70% of individual skills improvement. The remaining of each practice will be spent on team play. Players will be treated as athletes, not position players. Each player will work on fundamentals as well as advanced skills.
